What is a laminator?

A machine that adheres to plastic film on the surface of the material that you want to cover is a laminator. Laminators are commonly used to protect important documents to save them longer, pictures, or tickets for making memories, and projects and posters to avoid damages. Most of the lamination machines use heat to laminate the material, but cold laminators are also available. This machine seals the film edges so, the plastic laminate layer does not peel. However, you can remove the lamination by cutting the plastic film edge with the help of scissors or any sharp-pointed object. Make sure that while peeling it off, your document remains safe and undamaged.

Laminating the document two times:

In some cases, when the lamination machine is not properly heated up and the user sends the document through the machine, they need to send the document a second time in the machine. While sending the second time, make sure that the machine is completely heated. Sometimes, this method can heat the bottom film layer, which adheres to the document.
Moreover, if you want to laminate the document twice to make it extra thick means extra strong and protected, you can laminate twice as well. Instead of laminating twice, it is better to use a thick laminating film. Because, while sending the document again in the machine to laminate can damage the first layer due to heat.
Another circumstance, if you want to new lamination on your old document, you can peel off the old one and send the document again to the lamination machine to laminate it again. First, you need to cut the old plastic film edges, be sure that the document is clean, dry, and undamaged. If the machine is too hot, sending it a second time does not fix the dimples and waviness on the document surface.

Some Tips:

Always read the manual before using the laminator, even for selecting the right film type for document lamination. Before laminating your important document, run some practice papers through the laminator to check the heat and to get the hang of laminating. In this way, the speed is checked that it is a comfortable fit for the document. Moreover, you can see firsthand how the double laminating looks like.
